Concert and sponsored walk help Burnham Lions raise cash for hospice

-

A brass band concert and fundraising walk have helped Burnham-On-Sea and District Lions Club raise £350 for St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice in Taunton.

The cheque was handed over to Sue Medlicott, Community Fundraiser from the Hospice, on Monday (October 30th).

£300 of the money was raised at a concert given by the Lions National Youth Brass Band, which visited Burnham as part of its West Somerset tour in July. The event had been organised following the death of Gerry Matthews, a Past President of Burnham Lions, who passed away in March.

And a further £50 came from funds raised at the annual Quantock Walk which has been organised on a yearly basis since September 1995.

Sue said: “We are very pleased to receive this cheque. All monies go towards making each day count at the hospice.”

The Lions Members and two of the Lion’s ladies were given a talk and tour of the Hospice in Taunton. Burnham Lions President Andy Taylor said how impressed he was with the feeling of the whole hospice.
