Weather boosts holiday trade for Burnham-On-Sea tourism businesses

-

Tourism businesses in Burnham-On-Sea have enjoyed a bumper Bank Holiday week as good weather attracted crowds of visitors.

Good weather boosted visitor numbers, creating busy scenes on Burnham beach on Monday, when temperatures reached 23.9C.

Steve Atkinson at Burnham’s Home Farm Holiday Park told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It’s been a very good summer as a whole. We have bookings for much of September and a good number of early forward bookings for next year already. The weather has been helpful – at least we’ve not had the rain of last summer.”

And Sonya Fudge at Burnham’s Bay View Cafe on the seafront added: “It’s been our best summer for at least three years thanks to the great weather. It’s been a good season for us.”

And Louise Parkin at Burnham Pavilion agreed that the summer had been a positive one for trade, although she said the Bank Holiday had been changeable.

She told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It’s been a good weekend, but not brilliant I would say. The weather was changeable at times in the weekend and that affected trade, but the summer as a whole has been good.”

Burnham-On-Sea Chamber of Trade said many businesses along Burnham High Street also reported good trade over the Bank Holiday weekend.

There were also busy scenes in Brean as well, where holiday parks were kept busy with high numbers of holidaymakers.

With several days of the school holidays remaining, the busy conditions will continue until the start of September.
