Police conducted an air search of several caravan parks at Brean on Thursday afternoon (Nov 23rd) as they investigated a £100,000 furniture robbery.
The force helicopter pictured above carried out the search of caravan parks across the resort, near Burnham-On-Sea, from around 2.20pm after officers received reports that some of the stolen furniture may have been taken to the area.
Three lorries loaded with quality sofas and armchairs had been stolen from an industrial estate at Avonmouth on Monday. While the lorries were later found abandoned in the Congresbury area, all the furniture was missing.
“After receiving some information about the possible whereabouts of the furniture, we carried out an air search of several caravan parks in Brean on Thursday,” Somerset police spokesman Darren Bane confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“Our investigations are continuing, but to my knowledge nothing was found at Brean on this occasion.”
Monday’s 4am break-in occurred at a portable office building in Burcott Road, Avonmouth. The keys to three 7.5 tonne lorries were taken and police believe the vehicles were driven onto the M5, leaving it at junction 20 for Clevedon and then travelling through Yatton to reach Congresbury. It is possible that the furniture may have been unloaded from the lorries somewhere along that route.
