Final approval has been granted this week for a new pedestrian crossing in Burnham-On-Sea’s Berrow Road – and it is now set to be built this autumn.
The new crossing will be installed outside Kathleen Chambers care home, operated by the Royal National Institute of the Blind.
The project was originally announced in February this year and suffered delays due to design issues arising from lighting, signal design and consultation.
However, Cllr Peter Burridge-Clayton, pictured, who secured the county council funding for the project under its minor works schemes, told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week that the work has been confirmed to begin between October and November this year.
He told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The County Council’s Chief Executive has signed off the traffic order this week which is the final step to getting it installed.”
“I am delighted the new crossing is going ahead and am sure this will be welcomed by nearby residents.”
