MP hears concerns from Burnham-based Hinkley parents group

-

MP Tessa Munt has this week discussed Hinkley Point health concerns with members of the Burnham-based group ‘Parents Concerned About Hinkley’.

Tessa met Jo Brown, the group spokesperson for Parents Concerned about Hinkley (PCAH), to discuss proposals to build two new reactors at Hinkley Point power station.

PCAH is a long-running Burnham-based campaign group that has collected data and produced reports answering local concerns regarding cancer clusters, particularly childhood leukaemia.

The MP was told that several health studies produced by the group have been ignored by the authorities and that official studies are often criticised for omitting data or collecting data under the wrong sample criteria.

Members of PCAH told the MP that all health issues relating to Hinkley should be fully considered before further development begins. The group has prepared a number of health-related questions which it wants answered by government.

Tessa told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I am always very happy to meet constituents regarding any matter of concern and to help obtain answers to questions posed to Government.”
