New Burnham-On-Sea community movie set to be screened this month

-

Filming has been completed for a unique new film about community life in Burnham-On-Sea, which is set to get its first screening this month.

The Theatre Mélange production company has spent the summer recording different aspects of the town’s community life for its film, “Echo Burnham, Portrait of a Coastal Town”.

Burnham is the third seaside town for the team, who have previously produced films on Minehead and Watchet.

The team, led by Artistic Director Sandy Maberley, have interviewed local people about their memories, experiences and opinions of Burnham.

The “amusing, affectionate and sometimes off-beat portrait” of Burnham will be screened at The Princess Theatre for three nights only from Thursday 26th to Saturday 28th September 2013 at 7.45pm each night.

“Drawing on filmed interviews with Burnham residents collected over the past six months, the team have created a colourful, voyage through Burnham’s past, present and future!” said Sandy.

“It features a rich mix of real-life stories interwoven with stunning landscapes, live performance, a compelling sound track and words from Burnham’s own ‘poet laureate’ Lewis Charles Coleman.”

“From lifeboats to swing boats, needle craft to hovercraft, sailing to sunsets, donkeys, dunes and dredgers, bikers, birds and Burnham brass, this is a portrait of Burnham as seen through the eyes of the people who live and work here.”

Tickets for the screenings are priced at £10.00 for adults, £8.50 for concessions, £5.00 for Under 16s and £25.00 for families of 2 Adults + 2 Under 16s. Details from The Princess Box Office on 01278 784464.

The film ‘ECHO Burnham’ is an original production and a sequel to the company’s highly acclaimed ‘Minehead – Portrait of a Seaside Town 2010’ and ‘Watchet – Portrait of a Harbour Town’ in 2012.

ECHO Burnham is supported with financial investment from Arts Council England, the National Lottery and Somerset County Council.
