A Burnham-On-Sea youngster has raised hundreds of pounds for charity by having eight inches of her hair cut off.
Sophie Greenwood, 7, a pupil at St Andrew’s School in Burnham, decided to raise funds for the Little Princess Trust, which donates wigs to children who have lost their hair after chemotherapy.
Hairdresser Jasmine at Haircraft in Burnham cut her hair, helping her to raise over £545 from sponsorship fees.
Brave Sophie was born with Craniosynostosis, a rare disease where the skull fuses in pregnancy, and she’s had several major surgeries at Great Ormond Street to correct this.
Her mum Sarah told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “A huge thank you goes to everyone who supported her – I’m so, so proud.”
“Sophie is a very strong-minded girl and has a scar right across her head from her surgeries and is very brave to have done this. We are so proud she is thinking of others.”
“Sophie has watched lots of videos of little girls who have their hair cut for the trust, and has made up her mind she wants to do it too, helping to fund the cost of making a wig.”
