Two burglars were jailed on Tuesday (September 10th) after pleading guilty to a series of crimes across Somerset, including Highbridge.
Roy Salisbury, 28, from Hayes in Middlesex, was sentenced to three and a half years in prison for six burglaries between January and March.
Two were in Weston, one in Hutton, two in Clevedon and one in Highbridge. Property worth more than £50,000 was stolen, including a car, jewellery, computer equipment and televisions.
He asked for a further 22 burglaries in North Somerset and West Somerset to be taken into consideration.
Ean Sinclair, 29, originally from London but living at Midford Road in Weston, was also sentenced to three years for burglaries in Weston, Clevedon and Hutton. He asked for a further six burglaries to be taken into consideration.
As well as prison terms, both men were also given ASBOs banning them from returning to North Somerset for five years.
In addition to the investigation carried out by the Priority Crime Team, which is based at Weston, the Judge highlighted the vigilance of the security staff at Proper Job DIY Store, who reported seeing the two men buying what he described as a “burglary kit”.
Investigating officer DC Phil Aspinall said: “Between them, these men were responsible for causing 28 families the distress of having their homes broken into, their belongings gone through and often precious and irreplaceable items like jewellery taken.”
“As a team, we’re now able to go back to each victim and tell them we’ve caught the men responsible. I hope this goes some way to helping them get over what has happened.”
