One half of the classic TV comedy duo Little and Large gave a lively performance in Brean at the weekend.
Entertainer Syd Little, 70, who was part of the popular double act with Eddie Large, performed in front of 120 people at Brean Leisure Park on Sunday.
After demonstrating that he’s lost none of his comedy or singing skills, he had a quick dig at today’s TV output as he recounted how he used to perform in front of huge audiences.
He said: “Today’s TV is cr** – there’s never anything worth watching. In our day, Eddie and I attracted audiences of 18 million. Today’s shows would die to attract half that!”
Syd’s performance was met with loud cheers of support from the crowd of Brean holidaymakers.
Little and Large’s TV show ran from 1976 to 1991 and started after they won a TV talent show called Opportunity Knocks in 1971 which eventually led to a successful 20-year television career.
After the cancellation of The Little and Large Show, Syd took life a little easier, appearing occasionally on shows such as Shooting Stars, until 2005 when he took part in the reality television show Trust Me I’m A Holiday Rep. He also appeared on The Bob Monkhouse Show, Wogan and Comedy Map of Britain. He can now be seen in summer shows across the UK, as well as guest appearances on cruise ships and at pantos.
