Three playing fields in the Burnham-On-Sea area were last night (Thursday) named as being among the best in Somerset at an awards ceremony.
Judges from Somerset’s County Playing Fields Association announced the county’s top playing fields during their AGM in Woolavington.
Neil Corkish, Chairman of Mark Community Association, said he was “really delighted and thrilled” that the play area and field in the village of Mark had received a ‘gold’ award.
Berrow Parish Council’s Chairman, Barry Kew, also received a ‘highly commended’ award for Berrow Playing Field in the ‘best playing field’ category.
And a bronze award went to Berrow Green’s play area, which opened in 2010 following a £50,000 National Lottery grant.
“We’re delighted that Berrow has been given recognition for its super facilities,” he told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
Somerset County Council Chairman David Fothergill presented the trophies and certificates.
Dozens of representatives from playing fields across Somerset attended Thursday’s event.
