Burnham-On-Sea gets national TV coverage in GMTV Xmas lights contest

-

Satellite TV trucks and camera crews descended on a usually quiet Burnham-On-Sea street on Wednesday morning (December 20th) when it came under the glare of national attention on GMTV.

Delighted organisers of the festive decorations at Trinity Rise heard earlier this week that they had advanced to the semi-finals of GMTV’s nationwide competition to find the UK’s best Christmas lights.

GMTV broadcast live from the street on Wednesday, interviewing residents Paula Payne and Roger Flower, and showing the impressive lights to its viewers.

London-based presenters Andrew Castle and Fiona Phillips discussed where the town is located and even added how much better it is than Burnham-on-Crouch!

Over £5,000 of prize money is up for grabs in the competition, with local charities BARB and the Somerset Children’s Hospice set to benefit from collections outside homes along the road.

It’s not the first time the Trinity Rise residents have been featured on GMTV. They first appeared on the programme in December 2004, then two weeks ago after the street entered GMTV’s competition. They now face a nervous 48 hour wait before finding out on Friday whether they’ve won.
