M5 at Burnham-On-Sea to get £2 million of improvements

-

A major project to introduce a quieter, safer road surface on the M5 at Burnham-On-Sea is scheduled to begin on January 8th.

The work, costing £2 million, will take place between Junctions 22 and 23 and will involve improving drainage as well as resurfacing the carriageway, the Highways Agency said on Friday.

It is expected to continue until April 5th, during which time the majority of the works will be carried out overnight, with lane closures on both carriageways.

Highways Agency project manager Dave Sledge told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Most of the work has been scheduled to be carried out overnight to minimise delays, but drivers are advised to take care during the roadworks and allow extra time for their journeys.”

While the works take place a 50mph speed limit will be enforced, in order to protect the safety of both road users and workers.
