£5,500 reward offered to find shooter who slaughtered swans

-

A £5,500 reward is being offered to find the culprit who killed eight swans with an airgun near Burnham-On-Sea earlier this week.

Burnham-On-Sea.com first reported here how wildlife carers from Secret World Wildlife Rescue had expressed their shock after finding eight swans slaughtered on Monday (February 21st) when they were called to the West Ham road out of Blackford.

Charity founder Pauline Kidner told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Friday: “Following the appalling shooting of eight swans, concerned members of the general public have come forward offering a financial reward for information.”

“The £5,500 reward will be offered to anyone who has any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for this shocking incident.”

Anyone with information should contact Pauline Kidner or Sara Cowen, the charity’s animal care manager, at Secret World Wildlife Rescue on 01278 783250.

A total of eight dead swans were discovered and X-rays revealed they had all been killed by air gun pellets.

“One of the swans had been shot three times and must have suffered terribly,” Sara told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
