Brent Knoll fundraising day raises £650 for marines charity

-

A day of fundraising in Brent Knoll raised more than £650 for marines and their families on Saturday (February 26th).

The Wrinkly Rappers performed their unique line-up of rap music and Burnham’s Bubbling Springs Tai Chi group held a morning of demonstrations in the big top circus tent at Sanders Garden World.

Collections were made on behalf of Go Commando, a Taunton-based charity that provides support for marines and their families.

While it was also expected that a number of marines and their families would arrive at the circus in a fleet of classic cars, this fell through at the last minute.

But Bridgwater’s Army Cadets and Burnham’s Mayor and Mayoress, Michael and Maria Clarke, were on hand to give their support to the event and to organiser Allan Roberts.

Allan told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The tai chi demonstrations and Wrinkly Rappers went down a storm in the morning and there were over 100 people to watch. I was disappointed that the marines and their families were unable to join us in the afternoon as planned, but we were pleased to raise £670 for Go Commando, which was a good result.”
