More than £12,000 of grant funding has been handed to community groups in the Burnham-On-Sea area this week.
Burnham and Highbridge Town Councillors gave the go-ahead to nine applications for £12,170 of grant funding at its latest meeting this week.
Citizen’s Advice Sedgemoor received £2,700 towards the cost of supplying its services in the Burnham and Highbridge area.
Burnham Area Youth Centre received £2,500, Burnham & District In Bloom Committee received £750, the Vale of Avalon Vintage Vehicle Run received £400 and Burnham’s Sea Dogs Festival received £400.
Also, Mendip Community Transport received £1,000 and Burnham-on-Sea & Highbridge Town Twinning Association received £100.
Burnham-On-Sea Food and Drink Festival received a grant of £1,800 after town councillors heard from organisers Bev and Sarah Milner Simonds and festival supporters Alex Turco, Neil Brewer and Juliette Franese.
A further application from BOS Events was awarded £2,520 towards the costs of it holding a series of community events in Burnham-On-Sea through the year.
