More swans killed as reward to find shooter rises to £10,500

-

Ten more dead swans have been found by members of the public near Burnham-On-Sea as the reward on offer to find the airgun user responsible for shooting the birds rose to £10,500 this week.

Secret World Wildlife Rescue Centre founder Pauline Kidner said that further birds had been discovered by a walker near Wedmore at the weekend.

Burnham-On-Sea.com reported here last week how wildlife carers had expressed their shock at finding eight swans shot dead when they were called to the West Ham road out of Blackford.

Charity founder Pauline Kidner told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It is hard to understand why anyone would want to kill these wonderful birds. We are appealing to the public to get in contact with any information they have.”

The reward, given by the community, is being offered to anyone who has any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the deaths. Secret World is asking people with information to ring them on 01278 783250.

Police have also stepped up their patrols in the area and said that anyone killing the swans could be prosecuted.
