Dementia Awareness Week event to be held in Burnham-On-Sea

-

A special event to coincide with Dementia Awareness Week is set to take place at Burnham-On-Sea’s Princess Theatre.

On Wednesday (May 18th), between 10am-3pm, there will be craft and information stalls set up in the theatre, as well as refreshments.

At 1.30pm, campaigner Myra Cox, pictured above, will give a special talk about the condition.

Her key themes will be positive, highlighting how people can live well with the condition and still have a fulfilling life.

“We intend to promote the fact that dementia is not a natural part of ageing, dementia is caused by diseases of the brain,” she said.

“Also, dementia is not just about losing your memory, it’s possible to live well with dementia, and there’s much more to a person than just dementia.”

The event will be raising money and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Society, who are leading the fight against dementia.
