A top theatrical director has praised the high standard of entries at this year’s Highbridge Festival Of The Arts.
Chris Harris was in Burnham-On-Sea on Saturday (March 5th) to judge the dance categories, which are taking place at The Princess Theatre.
Chris, who directs and writes productions for the Bristol Old Vic and Bath’s Theatre Royal, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I’m very impressed with the quality of entries this year here in Burnham. We’ve seen some exceptional dance entries with some superb character work and the winners have been very deserving of their awards.”
He added: “I’m relieved to hear that the future of The Princess has been secured – this festival needs this wonderful building.”
Dozens of talented youngsters took part in the third day of competition in The Princess Theatre, where 12 classes took place. The dance classes included dozens of entries covering ballet, tap, modern, contemporary, cabaret and Greek.
Speech and Drama takes centre stage on Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th March when poetry, prose and choral speech will be performed on stage. Singing and instrumental music will then take over for the final part of the festival from 9th-11th March.
The public are very welcome to attend the daily sessions, which start at 9.30am and approximately 2pm.
