Police officers in Burnham-On-Sea and Berrow will find out later today (Tuesday, March 8th) whether they have won awards in the annual competition to find the best bobbies on the beat in the Avon and Somerset force area.
Constable Esther Robinson, pictured, from Burnham Police has been nominated as Beat Manager of the year in the annual Community Policing Awards, while the Berrow Beat Team has been nominated for Beat Team of the year.
The awards winners will be announced at a ceremony being held at Cadbury House Hotel, Congresbury.
They were nominated by local residents and businesses after being described as an always-visible presence, following success in the Pubwatch and Sitewatch schemes.
Adrian Jones from Burnham Police is also among four other officers that did not quite make it as a district winner, but have been awarded Highly Commended, as the judging panel felt that their excellent work within the community should be applauded.
Dr Peter Heffer, Chair of Avon and Somerset Police Authority, said: “This year’s judges have had a really tough job deciding the winners.”
“Honouring and recognising the good work undertaken by Neighbourhood Policing teams across Avon and Somerset is extremely important.”
“The nominations highlight the impact both individuals and teams are having on the communities they serve.”
The awards ceremony will be streamed live across the internet here.
