A Burnham-On-Sea lifeboat was called to help a yacht that had sunk at its mooring in the River Brue in Highbridge on Tuesday afternoon (October 15th).
Amid concern that the vessel would cause a hazard to local marine traffic, the crew attempted a recovery on the incoming flood tide.
The yacht was emptied of water using a portable pump and towed to the safety of the riverbank.
Lifeboat helmsman Nick Prout said: “The yacht was a wooden-hulled vessel, and its automatic bilge pump had apparently failed. It was a useful exercise, and we were happy to help.”
