Stranded sheep rescued from ditch by Burnham firefighters

Burnham-On-Sea firefighters rescued a stricken sheep that had fallen into a ditch on Saturday afternoon (May 28th).

One fire engine was called to help free the stranded animal from a rhyne in fields next to Burnham’s Frank Foley Parkway.

The fire service was alerted after several walkers spotted the animal in difficuty at just before 1.15pm.

The fire service said it always attends such incidents to avoid the risk of people putting themselves in difficulty by trying to reach animals themselves.
