First slates laid on roof of Berrow Football Club’s fire-hit pavilion

-

The first slates have been laid on the new roof of Berrow Football Club’s pavilion this week as work to rebuild the property following its devastating fire in November 2005 continues.

Burnham-On-Sea.com reported last month that the construction work was well underway – and since then, progress has been good, with the rebuild remaining on schedule to be completed in April.

A huge fundraising campaign was launched in 2005 after a suspicious fire at the building. Thousands of pounds were raised to secure the future of the building and to help replace some of the damaged sports equipment.

Andrea Johnstone, one of the organisers behind the continuing fundraising drive, told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the work is going well and that plans for a grand re-opening in April are still on track.

The building work is being carried out by contractors Boley and Skuse.

The pavilion is used by Berrow Boys, Berrow FC and Berrow, Burnham and Brean football teams.
