Burnham-On-Sea’s Marine Cove gardens have been partially re-opened after being vandalised earlier in the week.
Sedgemoor District Council, which oversees the seafront gardens, temporarily shut the facilities after widespread damage on Monday.
“The gardens have been made safe again and damaged areas have been cordoned off,” spokeswoman Claire Faun confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com. “We are advising visitors to take extra care where there is damage.”
She added that the council is still calculating the final repair bill.
“We are still assessing the overall damage and are getting quotes so it might be a while before the costs are known,” she said.
Burnham-On-Sea.com reported here that two people had been arrested by police investigating the incident, which occurred early on Monday (October 28th).
Two men, aged 20 and 19, were arrested and have been bailed to return to police on November 4th.
CCTV footage showed two people carrying out the damage at around 1am on Monday October 28th, and the council says it is confident that the damage was not caused by storms.
