A Highbridge church will be holding a fundraising music marathon today (Saturday) featuring local musicians.
The 12-hour event ar Highbridge’s St John’s Church will be held from 9am to 9pm with non-stop music of all kinds.
“This year our focus for fundraising is Christian Aid. At St John’s we want to help raise funds for all their work worldwide,” said Rev Simon Bale, Assistant Curate.
“Christian Aid does so many wonderful and different things to help those less fortunate than ourselves and it’s our hope that we can raise a serious amount whilst also learning more about what they do, and having fun at the same time.”
“Don’t be shy: give the clarinet a polish, put some new strings on the violin, oil that mouth organ!” he added.
“If you can play, or sing or both, please do get in touch with me on 07970 936325 or sj_bale@icloud.com so that we can allocate a time slot for you.”
It will be a busy weekend for the church. Its Summer Fayre will also be held on Saturday June 18th from 1pm to 4pm.
The following day, Sunday June 19th, will also see the church wish a slightly-belated happy birthday to the Queen with a special ‘Songs of Praise’ service at 3pm.
