Burnham-On-Sea’s MP, David Heathcoat-Amory, visited a former landfill site in the town on Saturday (March 17th) which is set to be transformed into a recreational facility.
We were first to report earlier this month how the land on the Rosewood Farm Estate has been earmarked for a major £240,000 landscape development project.
On Saturday, Mr Heathcoat-Amory visited the site and was shown the plans by the project’s key backers, Cllr Bob Filmer, Cllr Arthur Thorogood and Cllr Alan Ham – as pictured here.
The scheme will deliver tree and shrub planting, seating, dog waste and litter bins, surfaced paths, a cycleway and a jogging track. It will also create a children’s play area and ball court area which will help meet the needs of residents in the Rosewood Farm area.
Mr Heathcoat-Amory told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This project successfully completes the development of this land, transforming it from an eyesore which has attracted illegal tippping, into a ‘green’ space for community use.”
He added: “I’m keen to see local residents given a role in managing the site to give them a sense of ownership.”
Cllr Bob Filmer added that funding has also been secured for CCTV cameras at the site to ensure security is maintained once the facility is up and running.
