St John ambulance volunteers in Highbridge have this week been trialling a new mobile spinal board which is set to speed up the process of helping casualties injured in car accidents across our area.
The new extraction device has just been introduced in a dozen St John ambulances in Burnham and across Sedgemoor.
“The new extraction devices make it much easier to safely remove casualties from vehicles following accidents – particularly if people have suffered pelvic injuries,” explained Keith Gough of Highbridge’s St John Ambulance group.
