Talented pupils at a Highbridge school have raised funds for two local charities by creating their own history museum.
The Year 3 students at Churchfield School have been creating historical artwork and crafts with a Roman theme as part of a project, which then went on display.
Teacher Joanne Clement explained: “As part of our topic on the Romans, we gave our classes a homework project to create something to do with the Romans.”
“It was entirely the choice of the children what they made, we had many things handed in, from a Roman statue to Roman villas and Roman shoes, to Roman jewellery!”
“The children had three weeks to create their homework project, then over the past week, we have held a Roman museum in the school which was opened to family, friends and our school.”
“Posters were made to advertise the event and a small charge of 25p per adult was introduced, with the proceeds going to two local charities which the children chose.”
“The children raised £30 which is going to be split between Secret World Wildlife Rescue Centre and Burnham hovercraft charity BARB.”
