Dozens of motorbikes fill Burnham seafront during coast to coast run

-

Wet weather failed to halt more than 150 motorcyclists roaring into Burnham-On-Sea on Sunday (June 26th) during one of the region’s biggest and longest-running charity motorcycle events.

Westland’s Vintage Motorcycle Club held its 30th annual Coast to Coast Run from Lyme Regis to Burnham seafront.

The event has raised more than £70,000 for charity over the decades, with Headway Somerset benefiting this year.

Organiser Dick Dampier said he was delighted dozens of veteran, vintage and post-war classic motorbikes had taken part.

Mayor Michael Clarke picked a 1966 Triumph owned by Ian Northam for his Mayor’s choice trophy.

He told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “That bike has everything a classic motorbike should – it’s a traditional classic that stirs up memories from yesteryear.”

He said the bikers were very welcome in Burnham-On-Sea and hoped the group would come for years to come, having switched from Weston two years ago.
