A charity cycle ride is to be held this weekend in memory of a Brent Knoll man who died after losing a three-year battle with a lung condition.
Chris Evans, who lived in the area for 25 years, passed away five years ago while awaiting a double lung transplant.
His family and friends in the village are holding their annual fundraising bike ride, starting from outside The Red Cow pub on Sunday July 3rd at 11am, to raise money for The British Lung Foundation. The events have raised £8,000 so far.
The 25-mile route will take cyclists across the Somerset Levels to Godney, returning to The Red Cow for a barbecue later in the afternoon.
Chris’ daughter, Jenny, right, is planning a unique fundraising raffle this year when a collectable Charlie Bear can be won.
“The coveted Charlie Bear, whose name is Ian, is a sizeable bear standing at 80cm tall. He is a fully jointed bear and retails for £150,” she said.
“Ian the bear has the softest fur imaginable and would make a great addition to anyone’s home. I will be sad to see him go! For your chance to take him home, come along to the event and help to support a great cause.”
