Burnham tennis club player qualifies as an LTA Club Coach

-

Burnham Avenue Tennis Club player Craig Phillips has achieved his third British Lawn Tennis Association Club Coach qualification.

Craig, who lives in Brean, has been training hard recently and is delighted to have become an official LTA Club Coach.

He had a further reason to celebrate this week when he and doubles partner Bruce Wheatley won their way through to the UK National Doubles League Finals where they came up against some of the best players in the UK.

Although they didn’t win their matches, they did take the number one pair to a first set tie breaker and narrowly lost the second set.

On Sunday (8th May) Craig will be playing a National League Match against Esporta Poole in the Aegon National League for Taunton at the Avenue Tennis Club from 12pm and all are invited to come to the club and watch some fantastic singles and doubles tennis.

During this coming weekend the club’s Junior Road to Wimbledon competition will also take place for those under 14’s who want to compete for the chance to play at Wimbledon.

The next Red (under 8) and Orange Ball (8 to under 10 year olds) tournament at the Avenue Tennis Club will be held on Sunday 15h May at 11am and the next Sunday Social session will be on FA Cup final day on 14th May from around 12.30pm until 3pm.

Further details of coaching and what’s on can be obtained by calling the club on 01278 782758.
