Poor day for Liberal Democrats in Burnham-On-Sea elections

-

Local Liberal Democrat leader Joe Leach has expressed his disappointment at losing his town council seat in this week’s elections.

Joe, pictured, lost his seat to independent candidate Mike Mansfield in the Burnham Marine ward by 40 votes but retained his district council seat.

“I am very disappointed that I have lost my town council seat but that’s the people’s decision,” he told Burnham-On-Sea.com. “I congratulate Mike and wish him well.”

“I’ve kept my seat on the district council and will be fighting for Highbridge and Burnham Marine at a distict level.”

“The election has not gone as well as we’d hoped but the Lib Dems did make some good gains. The town council is not in overall Conservative control due to independent and Lib Dem seats.”
