A car fire caused hold-ups for motorists travelling along the M5 southbound between junctions Burnham-On-Sea and Bridgwater on Sunday evening.
Two fire engines from Burnham-On-Sea were called to the blazing Audi just before 7pm.
Crews extinguished the fire using breathing apparatus and a compressed air foam jet.
Smoke from the vehicle caused several lanes to be temporarily closed while emergency services were at the scene.
The cause was believed to be accidental, with 50 per cent of the vehicle damaged by the blaze. No-one was hurt.
