Fresh fears have been raised this week over the future of a village pub near Burnham-On-Sea.
The Berrow Inn has twice failed to sell at auction and has now gone on sale via an estate agent in Exeter for £325,000.
Local residents are concerned that the property may be bought by developers and turned into flats, taking away a community asset.
“No-one wants to see this pub shut down – it’s an important part of village life,” resident John Presley told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“The only way I can see it becoming financially viable is if it’s turned into a high quality restaurant that draws people from across the area. It also needs to operate as pub for locals too. We are concerned that a developer may take it on for new housing.”
A spokesman for Jones Lang LaSalle confirmed that the freehold for the premises has gone on sale at £325,000.
