Local author unveils new book on military intelligence gathering

-

A new book has been published this week by a former soldier living near Burnham-On-Sea.

Nick Van der Bijl, who lives in the village of Mark, spent 25 years in the British Army, mostly in the Intelligence Corps, and since his retirement he has pursued a career in security management.

Nick, who saw active service in Northern Ireland and the Falklands, explains differing intelligence techniques in action in his book called Sharing The Secret.

The book examines the colourful history of the Intelligence Corps from its formation in 1940 up to the present day.

Lisa Goose from publisher Pen and Sword said: “Even accepting that there are aspects of the Corps’ activities that cannot be revealed, there is a great wealth of fascinating material here for those interested in intelligence gathering.”

“Sharing the Secret is the first history of the intelligence Corps, revealing numerous hitherto unknown and highly classified – at the time – activities closely linked to national and operational security. It will be mandatory reading for intelligence experts and enthusiasts alike.”

The 420-page hardback book can be bought from Amazon here.
