Hundreds of mobile phone users in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge continue to be without access to their service due to an ongoing technical fault which has been running for over three weeks.
Vodafone users have been without phone reception when trying to use their handsets in the TA9 and TA8 areas, as first reported by Burnham-On-Sea.com here.
“The Vodafone network has been down since a week before Xmas and Vodafone have provided no update on an ETA on fixing it or what the problem is,” one Burnham user, Sarah Buchanan, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
Vodafone has confirmed there is a technical problem with a ‘microwave link’ at its Highbridge phone mast and says it is working on resolving the issue.
Vodafone spokeswoman Jane Frapwell told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’re sorry some of our customers are still experiencing signal problems locally. Our engineers have diagnosed a ‘line of sight’ issue.”
“To link this particular structure into the network, there must be a clear line of sight between this mast and the next one. Unfortunately, this requires our riggers to climb the mast and weather conditions have made this impossible.”
“An attempt was made yesterday but visibility was poor. Our engineers are treating this as a priority and we will make arrangements to climb the mast as soon as it is safe to do so.”
