MP joins political debate at Highbridge’s King Alfred School

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s MP took part in a lively political debate with students at a town school on Friday (June 10th).

Tessa Munt fielded answers to questions on a wide variety of topics from sixth form pupils at King Alfred School, as pictured here, during a specially arranged political debate.

“The event was so engaging that it was extended by 50 minutes,” Jonathan Gaskell, Head of Sixth Form, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Questions for the panel of four covered the NHS reforms, university fees and youth unemployment, the UK energy crisis and the question of Hinkley C, and finally the penal system and the Tory reforms.”

“The students were attentive and energised by the debates and some of our students are so enthusiastic about public service that they have completed voluntary work for Tessa Munt at Westminster.”

“We will be repeating this event in the Autumn as it clearly illustrates the value of citizenship.”
