Burnham-On-Sea police found traces of Class A drugs during a search at a Highbridge pub on Tuesday (February 12th).
A warrant was carried out at the Coopers Arms at 9am as a result of intelligence given to police from the community that drug misuse was going on at the premises.
The warrant was carried out with the use of specialist drugs dogs and the ‘Drug Ion Itemiser’ machine, which is used to detect traces of illegal substances.
No arrests were made, but traces of a Class A substance were found at the premises.
Burnham Sector Commander Insp Dale Baker told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “As a result of information received from local people the warrant was carried out as part of Operation Relentless.”
“Traces of an illegal Class A drug were found, although no-one has been arrested. We will continue enquiries with the pub and the brewery who own the premises.”
“I would stress the importance of information like this coming from the community for police to act upon.”
“If people believe there is drug dealing, use or misuse in their town, street or village, tell the police and we can do everything possible to take action against it.”
The pub was closed on Tuesday lunchtime, with in a notice on the door saying this was due to staff sickness.
