A large-scale search was launched in Brean and Burnham-On-Sea last night for a missing pensioner.
The 84 year-old man was reported to be missing at around 4.30pm by his concerned family while visiting Stardust Amusements in Brean.
Police called out Coastguards from Burnham-On-Sea and Weston, alongside BARB Search & Rescue, to find the man.
A thorough foot search of the village and beach was launched and the police helicopter also scoured the tideline from the air.
Following a possible sighting of the man on Burnham seafront, a separate search of The Esplanade was also undertaken. The man was ultimately found safe and well and the crews were stood down.
Burnham Coastguard Officer Dave Welland said: “This was a good multi-agency search for a missing person whom the family had a lot of concerns for. It was a good result in the end.”
