A mother who was injured along with her two children in a shocking collision with a car on Friday has been released from hospital.

The mum and her two children were airlifted to hospital after being hit by a car in Berrow on August 26th, as first reported here.

All three were in a critical condition when they arrived at hospital, however police say the mother has now been released, and the daughter is “improving”, while the boy remains in a serious condition.

A police spokesman confirmed: “A car was in collision with a woman and her two children – a 4-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl.”

“The mother has now been released and the daughter’s condition is improving. The boy remains in a serious but stable condition.”

“The investigation is still ongoing, and there have been no arrests at this time.”

“We’re continuing to appeal for witnesses following the serious road traffic collision in Berrow.”

The incident took place shortly before 5.20pm on Coast Road outside the busy junction outside the entrance to Unity Farm Holiday Centre, pictured here.

It’s understood that the vehicle was a Peuegeot estate car.

“A car was in a collision with a woman and two young children. All three sustained serious injuries,” a Police spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“The woman was airlifted to Southmead Hospital and the two children were airlifted to Bristol Children’s Hospital.”

Police have repeated their appealed for witnesses following the road traffic collision. Anyone who witnessed the incident should contact the Police on 101 and quote log number 879 of Friday.

Three air ambulances landed in the village on land around Unity Farm during the incident, to help air-lift the three casualties to hospital.

Staff at Unity Farm had to direct arriving holidaymakers along alternative routes to reach the park on one of the busiest days of the whole year.

A number of roads were closed for several hours on Friday evening, including Coast Road, South Road, Coat Road and Hurn Lane. Bus services were also diverted around the scene.
