A pensioner has died after being struck by a passing car in Burnham-On-Sea last week.
The woman was rushed to Frenchay Hospital following the collision at the busy junction of Berrow Road and Shelley Drive, pictured, last Tuesday (January 14th).
However, police said today that the lady, who was 85 years old, died on Sunday morning.
A police spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The incident occurred at around 5.20pm in Berrow Road when the driver of a Nissan 350Z and a pedestrian collided.”
“The pedestrian, a woman aged 85, was knocked to the ground and was taken to Frenchay Hospital. Despite receiving medical treatment she died yesterday morning (Sunday).”
The circumstances of the collision are still being investigated and police have asked for anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch via the Collision Investigation Unit on 101.
Several police officers were called to the scene and the area was coned off as investigations began, as pictured. The collision occurred during the busy evening rush-hour when a period of heavy rain was passing through the town.
