Police appeal for witnesses to collision after Burnham pensioner dies

Burnham-On-Sea Police have this week made a fresh appeal for witnesses to a collision in which a pensioner died after being struck by a passing car.

Officers investigating the crash have installed signs around the site of the incident after the 85 year-old lady was hit by a Nissan 350Z at 5.18pm last Tuesday (January 14th).

She was rushed to Frenchay Hospital with serious head injuries but sadly passed away on Sunday morning.

A police spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The circumstances of the collision are still being investigated and police have asked for anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch via the Collision Investigation Unit on 101.”

“The incident occurred at around 5.20pm in Berrow Road when the driver of a Nissan 350Z and a pedestrian collided. The pedestrian was knocked to the ground and was taken to Frenchay Hospital. Despite receiving medical treatment she died on Sunday.”

The collision occurred during the busy evening rush-hour when a period of heavy rain was passing through the town.
