Burnham-On-Sea’s MP James Heappey has vowed that getting faster broadband for the area remains his top local priority.
His comments came as hundreds of residents and local businesses joined representatives of local councils in attending a special ‘Faster Broadband Fair’ organised by the MP last Thursday.
“I was pleased that so many people attended the fair – we’ve had some very positive feedback from visitors and exhibitors alike,” said Mr Heappey.
“For those with the very slowest connections, Connecting Devon and Somerset’s voucher scheme is making an immediate difference. With people able to procure – either immediately or collectively – a solution that will bring vastly faster speeds.”
Mr Heappey added: “Anyone who couldn’t attend the fair might want to get in touch so that we can point them in the direction of those who can help. Faster broadband remains my top priority for our area.”
The fair, held at Draycott Memorial Hall, was attended by Connecting Devon and Somerset, BT and Openreach, as well as companies offering everything from 4G and satellite connections through to wide area Wi-Fi and fibre.
