Heatwave boosts tourism trade in the Burnham-On-Sea area

-

This week’s mini heatwave is giving the Burnham-On-Sea area a welcome financial boost.

As temperatures reached 80 degrees Fahrenheit on Sunday, Brean beach saw an influx of hundreds of day trippers, as pictured above.

Accommodation providers in Burnham-On-Sea say they have been boosted by the weather.

“All the guest houses and caravan parks in the Burnham area have had a great weekend,” Somerset Tourism Association’s Tom Ashton told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“The weather has certainly helped trade. A big golf tournament taking place at Burnham and Berrow Golf Club has also brought in lots of extra visitors.”

Louise Parkin from Burnham Pavilion said sales of ice creams and refreshments had been “brilliant” on Sunday.

She told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The great weather has really brought in the visitors – it’s great to see everyone with a smile on their face.”

Beach wardens had a busy weekend warning people off the mudflats, although there were no serious incidents.
