Children in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge are being encouraged to enter a competition to design a new logo for the town’s Marine Cove gardens.
As the project to refurbish the seafront gardens gathers pace, the team behind the project are seeking to encourage the community encourage local children to be involved with the work.
They are offering a £50 prize for the overall winner, who will get to see their artwork used on T-Shirts worn by the volunteers at Marine Cove and Community Gardener, Jacqui Strong (pictured).
The three top designers from each school will also be invited along to the grand opening of Marine Cove gardens, which is scheduled for 24th September.
Jacqui told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We thought it would be good to have some form of identification when the volunteers are working in the garden, the logo will be used on clothing, publicity material and headed paper.”
“The colour scheme that we will be using will be linked to the colours of the shelters at Marine Cove which is a vibrant blue and deep red colour.”
“By involving the local schools we are hoping to promote Community Involvement, which is what the Marine Cove project is all about.”
Schoolchildren have already been approached during assemblies and class talks and the closing date for entries is Friday, 8th July. For further details, contact Jacqui on 0758 490 9385 or jacqueline.strong@sedgemoor.gov.uk.
