A restaurant in the centre of Burnham-On-Sea has closed down this week, becoming the fourth such business to close at the premises over the last four years.
Geri’s Wine Bar & Bistro has shut its doors at 20 College Street just three months after launching.
Owners Ricky Baillie and Gemma Collins say they will be focussing their efforts on other businesses instead.
Ricky told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Tuesday evening: “Evening trade was good on several evenings a week, but the daytime trade has been disappointing. We’d signed a six year lease with the building owner, so had long-term plans, but we are finding it all too much to handle and will be focussing instread on running our cafe here in Burnham and holiday accommodation in Brean.”
The couple run Burnham’s popular Cottage Cafe, which is also located in College Street.
The closure of Geri’s follows the previous closures of Truly Scrumptious, Crowdy’s Bistro and French’s at 20 College Street.
Ironically, the closure comes just days after Burnham-On-Sea.com highlighted the recent launch of several businesses in the town which has generated optimism that Burnham may be bucking the economic downturn.
