A West Huntspill resident has been presented with a Community Award this week in recognition of her work in the village.
Christine Thomas received the award from Parish Council Chairman Terry Orchard on behalf of the village during a ceremony this week.
“Christine moved to the village in 1976 and since then has not stopped in helping out in the village,” he said.
She has been a steward at West Huntspill Methodist Church for over 20 years, volunteered at West Huntspill Day Centre for several decades and worked at the village school.
“She also spent six years at St John Ambulance teaching and helping youngsters to learn valuable skills. And she also runs many errands for people in the village if they need help running events – she is very deserving of this award,” he said.
Christine told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was a lovely surprise to be recognised like this and a great honour. I thank those who nominated me.”
The village’s winning scarecrow entries were also selected during the annual village ceremony, pictured here.
