Work has begun on building a new Co-Op store on the outskirts of Burnham-On-Sea this month.
The site of the former Berrow Inn in Berrow Road is being transformed into the new convenience store, which has been welcomed by many residents in the area.
Planning consent was recently granted by Sedgemoor District Council, allowing the former pub site to become a store and three houses overlooking the golf course.
Barry Kew, Chairman of Berrow Parish Council, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It’s good to see the progress – the giant heap of rubble has been an eyesore since the pub was quickly demolished over 12 months ago. Most residents are pleased that the work is starting.”
