The popular local baking challenge, the Great Burnham Bake-Off, is changing its recipe this month.
The Great Burnham Bake Off, sponsored by The Retreat Caravan Park, returns to the Food & Drink Festival on Saturday 22nd October with two new competitions.
Festival organiser Bev Milner Simonds told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “There are two new competitions – the first is open to families, young bakers and individual bakers.”
“We are looking for your family favourite recipes, something that celebrates your home town or region. It might be a loaf of bread, a cake, a tart or a sponge – we don’t mind, we just want great bakes! There will be trophies awarded to our three Champion bakers.”
“The second competition is also open to families, young bakers and individual bakers. Here, we have partnered with festival favourites The Humble Pie Company and are looking for a new flavour for their pie range which will be put into production.”
“To enter, bake your favourite pie and include a thorough method and ingredient list. The winner of this competition will not only have their pie go into production, be crowned champion, but also receive six pies in the post from the Humble Pie Company.”
The winning recipe will be made by Humble Pies in a shortcrust pastry, but your entry can use any type.
Come and see the cakes, bakes and breads on display in the Cookery School at the Princess Street Centre until 2pm when entries close and judging commences.
The trophies and prizes will be awarded at 4pm when it’s oven-gloves off for our competitive bakers!
