Records tumble at Burnham-On-Sea Swimming Club’s gala

Burnham-On-Sea Swimming Club’s members enjoyed a night of success at the second Cotswold Series swimming gala held in Brean on Saturday evening.

Burnham narrowly missed out on the top spot during the event, which was held at Brean Splash, with the final scores being Backwell 141, Burnham 132, Cwmbran 129 and Dursley 115.

There were 18 individual best times and 12 relay best times set during the evening, with the open swimmers achieving four personal best times.

Club Chairman Sally Plume congratulated the swimmers and said it had been a great evening. “There was a great atmosphere with a superb atmosphere and at times deafening cheering, especially during some very close and exciting races!”

The girls – Hannah Gosling, Amy Bray, Holly Baines and Megan Manley – found it a tough gala but did well to have best times on their relays. Megan Manley also had a best time on the 100m Freestyle.

The boys achieved three individual best times – Lewis Plume in the 100m Butterfly, Greg Kyd in the 100m Breaststroke and Chris Wood in the 100m Backcrawl and, with the help of Alex Plume, the best time in their relay.

The 15 and under boys achieved four individual best times – Morgan Rose in the 100m I.M. and 50m Butterfly, Nathan Clarke in the 50m Breaststroke and Lewis Crosby in the 50m Backcrawl. He also achieved a best time in the freestyle relay with the help of Shaun Wood.

The girls had two individual best times – Hannah Bray in the 100m I.M, Issy Baines in the 50m Backcrawl and with the help of Josie Dollery and Alicia Pollard best times in both their relays.

The 13 and under girls achieved two individual best times – Rowan Crosby in the 50m Backcrawl and Naomi Pollard, swimming up an age group, in the 50m Butterfly. They had best times in both their relays with the help of Ellisha Parker and Ella Dollery.

In the boys section there was more success for Sam Manley, who had a best time in the 50m Freestyle and Ollie Talbot in the 50m Butterfly and their Medley relay with the extra swimmers, Kieran Fey and Liam Reddish, swimming up an age group.

In the 11 and under swimmers age category, Harriet Puddy and Liam Reddish gained best times in 25m freestyle and Josie Hooper in 25m breaststroke. The girls, including Olivia Dollery and Naomi Pollard, saw best times in both their relays.
