Hard-hitting and emotional Wall Of Silence exhibition to visit Burnham

-

An emotional and hard-hitting exhibition is set to be held in Burnham-On-Sea this week highlighting the issue of child abuse.

The Wall Of Silence exhibition, which is touring the UK, features poems and stories from victims and survivors of abuse with the aim of raising awareness about the prevalence of the problem across the country.

Burnham and Highbridge Town Council has given its support to the exhibition by awarding funding of £750 to the project, enabling it to come to Burnham-On-Sea’s Princess Theatre from October 18th-23rd during a nationwide tour.

“The Wall of Silence exhibition is a unique event which not only highlights child abuse, its impact and the suffering this causes, but also the sheer determination and doggedness of those affected in trying to overcome the aftermath of that abuse,” said a spokesman.

“It also celebrates the strength, resilience and courage of survivors while giving hope to those yet to find their voice and start their own recovery, ” says a spokesman.

The exhibition consists of a series of contributions which have been submitted to RAVSCA (Raising Awareness for Victims & Survivors of Child Abuse). The Wall of Silence exhibition was launched in conjunction with The Southmead Project in January and has since been touring across the UK.
